Jonathan Miller’s new production for English National Opera
Jonathan Miller’s new production of La bohème for English National Opera opened in 2009, and was screened live on Sky Arts, with backstage live coverage screened simultaneously on Sky HD. Setting the action in 1930’s Paris, Miller’s La bohème seeks to emphasise the naturalism and psychological truth of Puccini’s tragic masterpiece.
The young British tenor, Alfie Boe, takes the role of the struggling poet Rodolfo and US soprano, Melody Moore, is his tragic lover Mimí. Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya makes his Company debut with this passionate and unforgettable score.
The performance will be released by NVC Arts on DVD and Blu-ray on July 26 this year.
