Recorded in high definition at the Opera Bastille in Paris, this production of La Bayadère, choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev, combines with Cinderella, The Nutcracker and Romeo & Juliet to form the final chapter in the output of Nureyev's choreography in Paris.
This three-act ballet inspired by the exotic East stars Isabelle Guérin (as Nikiya), Laurent Hilaire (as Solor) and Elisabeth Platel (as Gamzatti), along with Lionel Delanoë, Francis Malovik, Jean-Marie Didière, Wilfried Romoli, Agnes Letestu, Clotilde Vayer and Natalie Riqué.
Filmed in 1992 with music by Ludwig Minkus and orchestrated by John Lanchbery, La Bayadère is directed by Alexandre Tarta.
