Glyndebourne's first production of Janácek's Makropulos Case, directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff, and with set designs by Tobias Hoheisel, has been unanimously hailed by the press. Brian Large directs the production for television which finds perfect imagery for the nemesis which the 337-year-old herorine Emilia Marty, sung by Anja Silja, endures. Andrew Davis conducts the London Philharmonic.
