From B.B. King's Blues to the Soul of Beverley Knight, from REM to American college bands, the Montreux Jazz Festival is the most succesfull and respected Europen jazz festival in the world. Over the last 30 years it has attracted the finest artists and remains the dream-child of one individual - Claude Nobs. This DVD presentation follows Nobs during the 1999 festival, as he books, entertains and performs with some of the world's greatest musicians. The film builds a fascinating picture of the festival's history and evolution. Features interviews with Oscar Benson, George Duke, Buster Williams and Bette Midler. Performances by B.B. King, Beverly Knight, The Jeff Healy Band, The Charles Lloyd Quartet and The George Duke Band are included, as well as legendary footage of Aretha Franklin and Miles Davis.
